Vancouver Update

GERMAN VERSION (ENGLISH VERSION BELOW)

Lange habe ich nichts mehr persönliches von mir hören lassen und ich glaube, ein Vancouver Update ist fällig.

Nun, die Wahrheit ist - auch in Vancouver fällt man in eine Alltagsroutine. So, die Wahrheit ist raus!! Uff!!

Waaasss? Das gibts doch nicht?? Jaa auch hier muss man am Morgen aufstehen, ein zwei Dollärchen verdienen und Hausaufgaben machen. Der ganz normale Wahnsinn halt.



Trotzdem will ich mich nicht beschweren, denn der Alltag findet immerhin am Meer statt mit toller Sicht auf die Berge und inmitten einer tollen Stadt. Es könnte auf jeden Fall schlimmer sein.

Ich arbeite nun also zwei Tage die Woche und die restlichen Tage ist College angesagt. Das College ist echt fordernd und sehr zeitaufwandig. Nix da, zwei Monate rumhängen und dann mal 3 Wochen Stress (Falls das ein Verantwortlicher der Uni Zurich liest, ja ich meine euch!!). Hier muss ich jede Woche Hausarbeiten abliefern, Prüfungen schreiben und Präsentationen halten. Für mich natürlich eine gute Übung und hoffentlich auch wertvoll für mein Englisch.

Die Arbeit halt mich ebenfalls auf Trab. Ich bin jetzt zuständig für den Intake am Montag, dass heisst, den Empfang aller neuen Studenten (das können bis zu 200 pro Woche sein) und der Organisation des Einführungstests der Studenten. Es ist immer wieder ein Spass mit Menschen aus aller Welt zu sprechen, auch wenn es manchmal Hände und Füsse zur Verständigung braucht. Manchmal sieht es an unseren Tischen am ersten Tag aus wie bei den United Nations: Brasilien, Iran, Saudi Arabien, Mexiko, Belgien, Deutschland.... Die ganze Welt an einem Tisch! Den grössten Spass habe ich, wenn ich die Studenten frage, woher ich wohl sei: Meistens haben die Studenten eine geschlossene Meinung - Südamerika, ganz klar!! Ich fühle mich geschmeichelt :) Und wenn Europa, dann Italien oder Spanien :)

Wenn ich nicht arbeite und nicht studiere, fülle ich meine Freizeit mit Kinobesuchen, Treffen mit Freunden oder kleinen Entdeckungstouren in der Stadt.

Die Hightlights der letzten Wochen: LA, Halloween, mein erstes Mal Lasertag, Beer-Tasting.

Auf was ich mich freue: Weihnachtsmärkte, das weihnachtliche Vancouver, Nachhause kommen!!!



Ja, noch 21 Tage, dann gehts in die Heimat für ganze zwei Wochen. Tschakaalakaaa!!

Bis dahin werden aber noch ein paar Prüfungen geschrieben, ein paar Weihnachtsguetzli gegessen und Hot Wine getrunken. Aber macht euch bereit muchachos, Nina is coming back :)

Long time I didn't write anything personal here on the blog and I think it's time for a Vancouver Update.

Let me tell you the truth - also in Vancouver there is a daily life. It's out - here we go. 

Whaaat? That can't be true!?! But yes, even here you have to get up in the morning, earn some pennies and have to go to university. The normal craziness.



But honestly I really can't complain. This daily routine still happens at the sea side, with a beautiful view on the mountains and in the surrounding of a wonderful city. It could be worse.

So, I work now two days a week and the rest I'm studying at College. The college is quite intense and keeps me busy. Nothing to compare to my former studies where I was hanging around two months and then had three busy weeks. (Yes University of Zurich, if someone is reading this, that's the ugly truth!) But I really like it because I think it's pretty good for my progress. 

The other thing that keeps me busy is the work at ILAC. I'm doing the intake on Monday, when all the new students arrive at our school. It's always so much fun to talk with the students who come from all over the world to Vancouver. Our tables on the first day of school look like a meeting of the United Nations: Brazil, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Belgium, Germany... The whole world at one table! The funniest thing for me is to ask the students to guess where I'm coming from. The always have the same opinion: Definitely South America! I'm honored, thank you :) If Europe, then I have to be Italian or Spanish :)

If I don't work or study, I'm enjoying myself with friends, I go to the cinema or I discover the city with small trips. 

The highlights of the last couple of weeks was definitely LA, Halloween, my first time laser tag or beer tasting. 

My upcoming highlights: the Christmas market, the Christmas-Spirit in Vancouver and..... coming home!!!

Yes, 21 days until I'm visiting home for two weeks!! Tschakalakaaa, I'm super excited!

But before, I have to write a couple of tests, eat some Christmas Cookies and drink some hot wine and then I'm ready to rock Switzerland!! Get ready muchachos, I'm coming!! :)
